Synthetic Extracellular Matrix Engineers

NEWS & UPDATES

  • The Ohnsorg Lab will open it’s doors January 2026 in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison. On Wisconsin!

OUR RESERACH

The Ohnsorg lab leverages expertise in polymer science and engineering to rationally design, synthesize, characterize, and apply synthetic biomaterials to answer biologically-relevant questions and solve medically-relevant problems. The lab primarily focuses on the development of synthetic hydrogels to recapitulate the mechanical and biochemical properties of diverse extracellular matrix and tissue niches throughout the body. A particular area of interest is the osteochondral tissue niche, where the group aims to develop in vitro models to study disease progression and evaluate therapeutic strategies for musculoskeletal diseases such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.
